This is an outstanding CD of the ARTS 24/96 series, including exciting performances now recorded with the new technique of 24-bit / 96 kHz, offers the first recording with orchestra and soloist.

The CD includes four concertos for cello and orchestra by Luigi Boccherini. They are the most well known among Boccherini's twelve cello concertos (G.479, G.480, G.482, G.483) and they have been recorded in the less usual original version. The young Swiss/Taiwanese cellist Wen-Sinn Yang, actually well known soloist in Germany and solo cellist in the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, performs with plenty of musicality and clean technique. The South Tyrolean orchestra called String Academy Bozen, includes excellent soloists from Austria, Germany and Italy and it is conducted by its leader, the violinist Georg Egger. A fresh, alive and wonderful performance that can match all expectations and all comparisons. The exceptional qualities of the recording can be fully appreciated in the DVD format but the advantages over the normal recording 16 bit 44.1 kHz can be appreciated in the usual CD version too.
