Description
Numerous amounts of documents prove that fifers and trumpeters played side by side at special events during the Renaissance and Baroque ages.
This month ARTS MUSIC releases a new Hybrid SACD, recorded in multi channel surround sound, focussing on Baroque battle music of the 17th century and played by the ensemble “Tibicines” under the direction of Igino Conforzi.
Thereby the „Battalia“ plays a central role as melodic representation of a battle or a line up of armies during the 17th century. During the lifetime of Tielman Susato and Michael Praetorius, these compositions were so popular that the composers dedicated large compositions to this subject. Furthermore works from today rather unknown composers like Girolamo Fantini, Pierre Attaignant and Cesare Bendinelli can be heard on this release.
The battle in surround sound accompanied by music at the end of this disc certainly has the largest impression on listeners because it will offer the most dramatic effect and will excite one’s imagination.
