The Concerto No. 5 BWV 1050 occupies a special position in the history of instrumental concertos. Here - for the first time - Bach promotes the harpsichord from a basso continuo to a solo instrument. In this way the solo part for harpsichord became one of the longest and most complex Allegro of all Brandenburg Concertos.
There can be no doubt with the Concerto No. 6 that it was composed in respect of the musical capabilities and performance of the Court of Cothen. The parts of the violas da gamba are performed in a much simpler way than the violas, which may lead to the conclusion that Bach fulfilled the Prince's wishes to be able to participate in the performance.
Both Brandenburg Concertos are now released together with Bach's "Triple Concerto" in a stunning performance played by the Ensemble "I Barocchisti", conducted by Diego Fasolis. Discover brilliant baroque virtuosity and be swept away by this fascinating interpretation.

"While the entire group dives in headlong to get to the heart of every note, Diego Fasolis is not afraid to roll up his sleeves and get to work as well: In the stunning acme of the fith concerto's final minutes, he bombs down the score with a combustable harpsichord solo that has sparks flying and keys approaching point break"
