Description

The tribute cantata ''Aeolus pacified'' was probably first performed in 1725 in the open air for Dr. August Friedrich Mueller, a Professor at the University of Leipzig, who enjoyed great popularity amongst his students. The students had the cantata written as a tribute for their professor's name day by no lesser than the popular Johann Sebastian Bach. This documents very nicely how tight the relationship between the composer and the musical life at the University of Leipzig had been.

The second cantata on this disc offered by ARTS MUSIC belongs to a completely different context. The work ''Let our mouth be full of laughter'' BWV 110 had been composed for the first day of Christmas. Accordingly glorious is the music. Oboes, flutes, trumpets, bass drums and strings praise the birth of Jesus Christ.

Let yourself be enchanted by the glorious baroque sound and the magic of the human voice, recorded in crystal clear 24 bit / 96 kHz.

American Record Guide (24.07.2008)

"All along, the chorus sings lustily and the period-instrument orchestra is a sonorous bunch, with particularly robust brass."

"The chorus make light of the music's difficulties, singing with joyous energy, admirable precision, and appropriate Baroque style. As for the soloists, they get right into the spirit of these works...Drama and stroy-telling both get the upper-hand in these exhilarating performances"

Classica Répertoire (15.11.2007)
