Description

The career of the highly talented Dino Ciani as pianist, and indeed his life, was short: it lasted no longer than a decade. His rise to full celebrity as a concert performer in Italy came about quickly and was awarded by winning the second price of the international Liszt-Bartók Competition in Budapest in 1961. Concerts in the most prestigious European concert halls together with the most illustrious conductors of his time followed.

ARTS MUSIC now presents the Mozart Piano concertos No. 20 and Nr. 25 interpreted by Dino Ciani who is accompanied by the Orchestra Sinfonica „A. Scarlatti“ della RAI di Napoli and the Orchestra Sinfonica RAI di Torino. This remasterd recording is released in the ARTS ARCHIVES format in crystal clear 24 bit / 96 kHz sound.

"exuberant delight in playing... elegant phrasing....His (Dino Ciani's) interpretation is not analytic but intuitively musical - therefor it's liveliness is tremendous and it makes this CD from the RAI archives to a valuable part of every collection"

GRAMOPHONE (17.08.2007)

"Ciani is memorably responsive in K503 where his rapport with the Napels "Scarlatti" Orchestra under Sir John Barbirolli (also on top form) is consistently evident"

tokafi.com (17.08.2007)

"they show Ciani as a man with an incredible flow and a passion in his playing"

"Piano buffs wishing to hear a pianist who might perhaps have played a leading role in our musical lives will be glad to hear his collaboration with Barbirolli"

Crescendo Belgium (30.04.2007)

"....c’est, d’emblée, le miracle d’une connivence, d’une complicité totales, où le chef britannique (John Barbirolli), à l’automne de sa vie, emboîte le pas avec une joie et un enthousiasme contagieux, au jeu juvénile et fougueux, frais et chic, du jeune homme"

"...it is, at once, the miracle of a total complicity, a complicity, where the British leader (John Barbirolli), in the autumn of his life, follows closely with an enjoyment and a contagious enthusiasm, in the young and passionate, fresh and smart play, of the young man"

Classical.Net (06.03.2007)

"Ciani plays.. With carefree abandon and joy and versatility of youth married with maturity and an innate understanding of this magnificent music.... One is again bowled over by the sheer technical accomplishment of the playing and the loving abandon that this pianist brings to proceedings"
