Music for Strings

An appealing CD which includes the complete music for strings of two of the most famous Italian opera composers. The 9 pieces that Giacomo Puccini composed for string ensembles include the famous Crisantemi and some youth essays such as the three Fuga recorded for the first time. This is also the first ever recording of the three Minuets and the two movements from a forecasted but never completed String Quartet. Alfredo Catalani, who composed the famous opera La Wally, has an exceptional refinement for the works for string ensembles. Listening to A sera or to the first ever recording of Serenatella is by all means a pleasant experience. The Orchestra da Camera di Santa Cecilia,
based in Rome and conducted by the young Alessio Vlad, are also featured on ARTS' recording of Pergolesi's symphonies (ref. 47 347).
