Description

ARTS is proud to offer the first recording of the complete score of this great
masterpiece of the late 18th Century italian opera, a real milestone for the
development of the future belcanto and a work of stunning modernity.
Composed in 1789 (before the late Mozart's masterpieces), it offers pre-echoes
of romanticism, including the first big mad scene of the italian opera. Its success
was enormous until the last century but during the last decades, Nina has been
incredibly neglected. This is the first complete recording and the first studio
recording of Paisiello's opera and it is offered with a cast of specialists including,
Jeanne Marie Bima, the excellent Natale de Carolis, the 'buffo' Alfonso
Antoniozzi and Gloria Banditelli with the Hungarian Chamber Orchestra and
Choir being conducted from the fortepiano by Hans Ludwig Hirsch who also
revised all recitativi.

- First complete recording of a real masterpiece
- First studio recording
- Excellent cast
- No competitors in the market even at top price
- An inspired conducting by Hans Ludwig Hirsch who took care of all philological
aspects of the performance

Orpheus (17.06.2004)

"Man darf sich an der Aufnahme ganz ungetrübt freuen, und das aus mehreren Gründen: Zunächst wird sie uns ganz ungekürzt dargeboten, zweitens in der bisher stilistisch besten Interpretation, die endlich begreifen läßt, warum die Zeitgenossen gerade diesen Paisiello so überaus schätzen."
