Description

Although Rota had a normal career as a "classical" composer throughout his life within a line of linguistic conception that was deeply traditional, his international renown was mainly based on his composition of film music. Particularly appreciated and lasting was his work with Federico Fellini, who used the Milanese composer's music exclusively in his films throughout his career until Rota died in 1979. As highly skilled improviser at the piano, and a man blessed with exceptional adaptability and imagination, Rota was always able to understand and satisfy the very particular requirements of film directors, what won him great popularity in the international film world.

Our disc intends to pay homage to the concert and symphonic work of the Italian composer, a work which is much less well-known than his cinematographic composition.

Lean back, close your eyes and let yourself be dazzled by the beautiful tunes of Rota’s fascinating music.

"The performances are suitably classical, light and airy, allowing the music to flow freely, not pointing the jokes, just letting them happen, then passing on, allowing us to enjoy a joke slipped into the delightful conversation. I really enjoyed this disk"

"Despite its roots in the early days of digital productions, the recording has kept a warm timbre and an almost nostalgic touch, which fits the composer's frank and cliche-less sentimentality perfectly"
