Sisters of Freedom

The first audiophile recording of Arts ''Crossing'' collection is an exceptional event. The Harlem Spiritual Ensemble come back to the recording with an exciting proposal including the large cantata ''Sisters of Freedom'' composed by Linda Twine and dedicated to Sojourner Truth and Harriet Tubman, two of the main American female personality who fought against the slavery. This is one of the most interesting works by far dedicated to the fight against slavery and it is based on original music by Linda Twine and themes taken from the most well known gospels and spirituals.

The CD is completed by well known spirituals such as ''Amen'', ''Ain't gonna let nobody'' or ''Cert'ny Lawd''. Over 70 minutes of irresistible music performed in the best way by one of the leading american groups which includes six singers (what a voice!), two percussionists and one pianist.

The recording - made in the North Presbyteryan Church in Harlem , New York - utilizes the new technique of 24 bit / 96 KHz. Impressive dynamics, faithful reproduction of the voices and of the instruments. The DVD version offers one of the most incredible sound experience but the CD version too is wonderful.

For definitively enjoy this recording, try the last spiritual (''Ain't gonna let nobody turn me round'') or the Finale from the cantata ''Sisters of Freedom''. One of the best ever recording dedicated to spirituals.
