Description

Vivaldi’s „Four Seasons“ were the basis for the composition of the „Time of day“-Symphonies. Instrumental virtuosity, an almost inexhaustible variety of sound effects and Haydn's proverbial musical humour dictate these early symphonic masterpieces. Haydn's masterful "Time of day"-Symphonies are given a special position from their concertante forms, even within the distinct field of early symphonies.

The Wiener Akademie has established itself as one of the leading European ensembles performing early music, performing at festivals in Salzburg. Vienna, Istanbul, Jerusalem, Venice, Salamanca, Bilbao and Paris.

Over 60 CDs, with repertoire from Bach to the 20th century under the direction of Martin Haselböck, have been released. Such a prodigious output of excellent recordings has earned him the Deutsches Schallplatten critic’s prize, the Diapason d’Or as well as the Hungarian Liszt Prize.
