Description

To the posthumous tribute that ARTS is paying to Peter Maag by presenting a number of selected recordings, another production is added in September: Symphony No. 1 Op. 68 and the Alto-Rhapsody Op. 53 from Brahms.

As speciality Maag selected the at that time 30 year old contralto Lucia Valentina Terrani for this concert. Thanks to her personality and her bright, warm and very elegant tone this interpretation of the Rhapsody is surely a proper homage to vocal artistry.

We feel that the restoration and publication of these two radio tapes as remastered ARTS ARCHIVES recording will convey genuine emotion to those who listen to them. Peter Maag and Lucia Valentini Terrani were capable, like few others, of stirring emotions.
