Carlos Gubert was born in Buenos Aires, Argetina, in 1948. He showed a marked talent for music from a very early age, and in 1971 obtained his diploma in piano at the "Rossini" Conservatory of Buenos Aires, after which he perfected his studies under John Montes. He has studied harpsichord and cello and joined a chamber orchestra specialising in baroque music. He created the Camerata Academia of Honour at the International Fortepiano Competition in Freiburg, Switzerland, in 1981.
Since that date he has lived in Italy where in 1987, alongside his work in the field of classical music, he formed a musical group made up of fellow Argentineans who live abroad in order to diffuse the folk music of his country, dedicating himself to the tango and South American folklore.
In this type of music he performs under the name of FACUNDO DIAZ.
