This year marks Mozart’s 250th birthday which is why ARTS presents a beautiful ARCHIVES recording with unknown arias for soprano and concertante instrument. These kinds of works were very popular throughout the lifetime of the composer. Often pomp-loving cloister communities, prince-bishops and nobles of southern Germany loved to perform these works during clerical high feasts, which mainly affected the almost secular sounding concertante works.
After receiving singing lessons from the famous Paola Novikova, young Helen Donath came to visit Europe in the early 1970’s. There she gained her first experiences at the Cologne Opera Studio. After singing at the Hannover Opera House and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich she finally rose to international fame. Whilst singing at the Salzburg Festival she conquered the hearts of the audience perfoming the role of Pamina in Mozart’s “Magic Flute”. Since then, Helen Donath has been a regular guest at leading opera houses and concert halls throughout the world.
Experience this exciting combination of voice and concertante instrument in crystal clear remastered 24 bit / 96 kHz technique.
