This is an interesting collection dedicated to the transcriptions for organ of well known music for orchestra, which really was "… la mode" in France during the 19th century. Since the organ sound became more and more orchestral during the romantic period, numerous composers tried to enlarge the organ repertoire by transforming large scores to the "one man orchestra". You can hear music by Bach, Handel (Hallelujah), Saint Sa‰ns (Le Cygne), Mendelssohn (Marche nuptiale), Wagner, Meyerbeer, Gounod, and Verdi in excellent transcriptions made by Felix-Alexandre Guilmant, Theodore Dubois and Alfred Lebeau, known as famous romantic composers especially of organ music. Arturo Sacchetti opens this new chapter of our acclaimed Organ History series where both lovers and connoisseurs can find treasury of the organ repertoire.
