L'Arte del Violino is by far one of the most important collection of violin Concertos of the XVIIIth Century. Pietro Antonio Locatelli is anyway a neglected composer whose popularity is only related to his Christmas Concerto op.1 No.8. The collection "L'Arte del Violino" , published in 1733, contains 12 Concertos and special long cadences for violin for a total lenght of more than 4 hours. Rodolfo Bonucci is a leading italian violinist who alredy appeared on Arts as performer in the Donizetti's Chamber music edition and in the CD dedicated to Respighi and Martucci violin sonatas. This recording utilizes also the most important Rome's Chamber Orchestra and if original instruments are not exploited, the musicians show brilliant sound and brisk tempos as always recognized in the performances of the main italian ensembles.The recording shortly appeared at the beginning of the 90's with the label Europa Musica and it was the first really complete recording of this baroque masterpiece. 4 CDs issued only separately to enjoy a music that deserves the highest attention. The collection is now completed with volume 3 and volume 4.
